Is Ashen Veil free to play?
Yes. The full game is free in your browser. You only need to create an account (an Operator ID and a password) so your progress can be saved. An optional VIP upgrade for $4.99 adds bigger storage and some extras, but nothing is required to play.
Do I need to download anything?
No. Ashen Veil runs entirely in your web browser on desktop and mobile. There is nothing to install.
What kind of game is it?
A hardcore, text-based post-apocalyptic RPG with turn-based combat, base building, resource management, a deep talent system and a story set in Katowice, Poland in 2045.
How long does a run take?
A single trip takes a minute or two, but progression is long. Reaching level 60 and filling your base takes many sessions.
Is there permanent death?
The game is built to be unforgiving: decisions matter and losses are real. See the beginner guide for how to protect your progress.
How does time work?
Each in-game day has seven parts, and most trips cost one. Time only moves when you act, so there is no real-time pressure.
How do I get stronger?
Level up and spend neural points in the talent trees, upgrade your gear (see the item database), recruit mercenaries and build up your base.
What does VIP give me?
VIP clearance ($4.99, one-time) gives three times the base storage, access to the classified Silesia archives and lore dossier, extra audio logs and broadcasts, enhanced ally affinity and a Founder badge. It is manually activated after payment, so write your Operator ID in the PayPal note.
I paid for VIP but have not received it.
VIP is activated by hand after the payment arrives. If it has been more than a day or two, email support@ashenveilgame.com with your Operator ID and the PayPal transaction details.
Is my data safe?
Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text. We keep only the data needed to run your account and save game. See the privacy policy for details.
Where do I report a bug or suggest something?
Email support@ashenveilgame.com. Bugs, balance feedback and suggestions are all welcome and are read by the developer.
Does the website content match the game?
Yes. The item database, talent trees and news pages are generated directly from the game's own data every time the game is updated, so the numbers always match what you see in game.
